To be an employer, you must be a Singapore Citizen, Permanent Resident, or an Expatriate with a valid work pass. You must also have the financial ability to pay the helper’s salary and upkeep.

Generally, you can only hire a second helper if you have specific needs, such as caring for two or more children (under 16) or two or more elderly family members (over 67) living in the same house.

If you are a first-time employer, you must complete the EOP. It covers your legal responsibilities and tips for maintaining a good relationship with your helper. It can be done online or in person.
